The total solar eclipse occurs in Carmel from 3:06 to 3:09 p.m. on April 8. Effects of a total solar eclipse include lower temperatures, altered behavior in animals, wind changes and more. The next solar eclipse in the contiguous United States will not be until 2044.

“Welcome to my Ted Talk…”: TEDxCarmelHighSchool holds their annual TED conference on March 23 at the Carmel Clay Public Library. The theme of the conference was “By the Books” and speakers included local students, educators and journalists.

FemUnity holds their first Culture Fair on March 17 in the Main Cafeteria. FemUnity raises money for issues relating to women and children and proceeds from the event went to women in Gaza. The fair included club booths, food and performances.

Carmel Choirs Allegro, New Edition, Accents and Ambassadors perform the final dress rehearsal for “An Evening of Show Choir” on March 13 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium. The show included sets from each choir that have been performed throughout the show choir competition season. “

The Digital Media Lab at the Carmel Clay Public Library holds the 3D Expo on March 9 in the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event included local vendors, a guest speaker from Indy Toy Lab and a Nomad Sculpt station.

National Chinese Honor Society at Carmel High School holds their annual Chinese New Year Celebration at the Carmel Clay Public Library on Feb. 14. The event included Chinese crafts, performers, trivia and Just Dance and celebrated the Year of the Dragon.

The cast of “Little Women” performs the play from Feb. 1 to 3 in the Studio Theatre. Students performed Kate Hamill’s adaptation of the popular American classic and sold out of tickets for all three showing days.

Confront the Climate Crisis holds the event, “IN This Together,” at the Indiana State Capitol on Jan. 16. The rally was held to unite Hoosiers in support of climate action legislation and included organization leaders, legislators and student speakers from across the state.

The Indianapolis area celebrates the winter season throughout December. Locals and tourists paid visits to Carmel Christkindlmarkt and Newfields Winterlights. Activities included enjoying raclettes, singing carols about fruit cakes and walking into ornaments.

Carmel Choirs members perform in the final Holiday Spectacular dress rehearsal on Dec. 5. The show opened today, Dec. 6, and will continue from Dec. 7 to Dec. 10 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium. Local small business owners set up booths at the Green Gift Shop at Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) on Nov. 30 from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event was held as a partnership between CCPL and Carmel Green Initiative and local businesses sold home decorations, clothing, self-care items and holiday gifts.

Carmel PorchFest holds their tenth annual event on Sept. 17. Local bands, musicians and vendors set up in the Carmel Arts & Design District from noon to 6 p.m.

The Film and Theatre Department runs through a dress rehearsal of Studio One Acts on Sept. 13. The show included four student-directed plays and will be performed in the Studio Theatre from Sept. 14 to Sept. 16.
